This past weekend we loaded up and headed to the Shift Sector airstrip attack in Colorado Springs. First off, I would like to say it was one of the most organized, well put together events I have ever gone to. Hats off to everyone who ran it. Saturday we found out there was a 200mph cage rule (I have no cage) and I get one warning. If I went over 200 again I get kicked out, luckily that was per day. Collin decided to put a 195mph limiter on the car and data log how many feet it took to hit 195mph so we could try to get there faster and faster before the "kick out pass"! After a few runs we realized the altitude was causing us to need more boost and the springs we had in the WG's were to little. We changed the springs and went to do our get a warning pass and hit 203.69. Collin reviewing the logs said something is wrong we aren't hitting target boost like we were earlier. I looked down and one of the intercooler pipes had blown off and we still went 203.69! After putting a new clamp on it we went back out and ran 204.5.... Not much of an improvement and this is when we realized something else was wrong and we were done for the day. We decided to call it quits for the day and get up and figure it out, it was 100 degrees and we were all tired.

On Sunday we woke up early to figure out the issue with our boost control system. Luckily we were prepared for anything and brought a smoke machine. Within a couple minutes we figured out this issue. When we installed the new springs one of the boost lines must have moved and was touching the exhaust and it burned a hole in it. Repaired it and went out to do a test pass while it was still cool out. Data logs showed 195mph in 1900 feet flat! We were very happy. If we were going to make a goo record pass we needed to do it before it got hot went out and did a pass and blew off another coupler. At this point we knew everything in the system needed to be Vbanded. The amount of air we were moving was massive. Fixed that and the Roll racing started. I raced Miles Kerr in his super fast single turbo integra also known as V8eater. That thing was crazy fast but we got him on the top end, it was one of the best roll races I have ever had in my life. After that we raced the OB prestige TT lambo. I thought we were going to get a red light, let off the gas and got the green light :( he jumped out instantly about 5 cars or so, towards the end of the run I started to close the gap but it was not enough to close the gap. I got to meet Jason Heffner and his crew after the race and we all shook hands and said great race. After this we only had one more pass to go before we were done and the event was almost over. We went over the car one more time to make sure everything was good and tight and said lets do it! I made my pass and came back to the pits 208.5!

Overall I had a blast. The car performed flawlessly and we broke some records (fastest gen v). Most importantly the car drove its self on the trailer! We learned a lot about the car and there are some changes we want to make here and there and reinforcing some body panels to hold up to the speeds. On our 15 hour drive home Collin got to review the logs and once again we learned a lot......On my early morning pass we were making (estimated by ecu but usually pretty damn close) 1800+whp. On my final pass we went 195 mph in 2150' vs earlier that morning when we went 195 at 1900 feet. The DA was roughly 9300 and that did hurt us on boost. We will be hitting a private half mile event in a few weeks to see what we can do at sea level. Overall we came in second place to a TT lambo in the roll racing event and second place in the rwd class. We got to hang out with great people, some old friends some new and just had a great time racing! There are a few people I can't thank enough, all my guys who worked on the car, they did a stand up job, Dave Gammon from PPG/Pfitzner Gear boxes. They are the best transmissions hands down and this weekend proved it. Last but not least a huge thank you to Collin Murphy for his custom M1 package that worked flawlessly and kept the car safe and straight! Anyway now onto pics and vids!

Thank you everyone! We are heading back to a private event in a few weeks at sea level with some slight changes from what we learned over the weekend. Let's see how we do! Racing you will always have something go wrong or learn something. Our problem came from switching WG springs due to altitude, we won't make that mistake again!

That is PEAK power. That was the highest registered power, and was on a test pass earlier in the morning when the temps were cool and there was no wind. It would have done 215+ on this run if it was a full run. The 230+ cars are all-wheel drive and making upwards of 2300hp.

Was so cool to watch this event live on Shift S3ctor! Great job brother! Made us proud!

What panels are you going to secure for speed? Very curious. I saw you guys taped the nose. You may want to try helicopter tape!!

Mostly noticed my back bumper started to separate and its never been off the car. My front bumper started to sag more and more per pass LOL

It was great to meet you on Saturday. Your car ran great and it was awesome seeing a viper compete at this event. Be safe and put a roll bar/cage in it. Life is short and you are young, not worth the risk at the speed your traveling. See you at the next event!

Great work Antonio and Collin! That car is no doubt a 220mph car with the right conditions and a little more tweaking! I'm more impressed that it stayed together after that much abuse in such harsh conditions!

More than I can afford! Everyone needs to realize this was an untested set up! We did 4 dyno rips loaded it up and drove to Colorado! If you think about it the gtr and lambos have 7-10 years tweaking and figuring this out. We are catching up with a platform that is only a few years old. I haven't even owned my car two years yet. Just imagine what the next year will hold in a rwd car.

I hope you didn't take my inquiry as in anyway discounting your awesome accomplishment with the Viper in such a short time. Far from where I was coming from. I was just wondering what it would take for the G5 to compete since they couldn't quite get the last Gen Vipers to compete equally with the Gallardo's in the mile runs due to tranny gear issues with handling the Vipers ridiculous torque. I can see based on your response though that the question was quite premature and I look forward to where you guys will take the General Lee.

The transmission is not the problem, at this point. The biggest issue is traction. The traction control was working all the way until 180mph. Once we figure out how to get a bigger tire on the car, we'll start looking into aero. Then, it's simply adding another 500+hp to add that last 10-15 mph. The difference between 230 and 240 is exponential, in terms of power. We'd be happy just going 220 and setting the RWD record.

Ohh not at all, I was making a fast and furious quote joke! I honestly think to catch those it's just going to take testing and time. We learned a lot and came out to our first half mile event with an untested set up at 208.5, and hitting a private half mile this weekend with some minor tweaks and at sea level. I also think to catch 240 is not impossible but very far away, those awd car just hook and go. We can see how I do this weekend and go from there!

I see. Thanks. I don't know if they still do mile races but what do you think the General could do in the full mile? I think the fastest last gen Viper did 240mph or there abouts if memory serves...

The General is only geared to about 240, so it wouldn't be much for a mile racer. With proper gearing, it would likely go 260+. The mile puts a LOT of stress on stuff, though, so it will likely never see anything over 1/2 mile. Beyond a half mile, it's simply a matter of having decent aero and just keeping the car together. It's why the FGT dominates the mile, but will never be as fast in the half mile as other cars. The M2k car only did 209 in the 1/2 mile, but 280 in the mile. Picking up 70mph in the last half is absurd.

Lol you are right about absurd. Nothing else is even close not even the Gallardo's for the mile runs. 240 - 260mph is plenty fast enough.

I will also add, even though Todd from A&C says I have the balls meant for an elephant I have no desire to try to go 260+ Totally different game. This is a street car I drive on pump gas and go racing with on the weekends. Once you go that route it tear the entire car down every event, check every bolt. The stuff I am seeing loose or gone from this last event still blows my mind, and I know they were there and tight because I tightened them!
