Im in the process of pulling off the Rain Deflector (not sure what the proper name of it is) on the airbox of my Gen 4. I removed the 3 push pins that secure it into the hood. However the foam seal that surrounds the airbox appears to also be holding the raindeflector in place. Is there a way to pull the deflector off with out taking the foam seal off with it. From what I see and read the foam seal is what creates a seal playing a big role in the Ram-Air effect of the airbox. Maybe I'm just being over cautious but I just don't want to ruin anything out of carelessness.

Warning, if you were planning on leaving it off, you will likely get a check engine light.

You have to pull the foam seal off since it is glued to the deflector itself. There's no other way around it.

To clarify - you can remove the foam seal from the rain deflector, but a part will still be held in place by the hood itself since it is adhered to both the deflector and the hood. The parts that are attached to the hood will be enough to keep it in place, and still create a seal with the air box. It'll just hang down a bit with the hood up.

Thanks for the advice. I was able to remove it with enough glue left on the foam trim that it adheared back to the hood in perfect position. Went for a spirited ride down the highway and no CEL has come on yet. With 92 degree temp today Im not sure if the air was dense enough to throw a code to the air sensor.

Mine didn't have any problems until I did a WOT pull to the top of 3rd gear (130-ish MPH).
