Since there aren't any actual updates I figured I'd start a thread with some notes that I've been collecting myself so here it goes.

For the first half of practice it seemed as if the live scoring wasn't quite working correctly with sorting the fastest lap to the last lap, towards the end it finally did.
The surprise of the day (at least to me) was the C7.R. About 3 laps or so into the session the Vette popped up and was immediately fast jumping to the top of the charts. Impressive.
Porsche and Aston Martin would periodically jump into the mix with some fast laps.
Viper and Corvette, for at least one lap, where separated by .001.
The #3 Corvette clicked a 1.45:7xx
The #93 GTS-R then went 1.46.292
Towards the end of Practice the #4 and #91 joined on the track.
Two red flags, one with 20 minutes left in the session.
End result was Corvette 1-2, Porsche, Viper 4-5, Aston Martin, BMW's....Ferrari.
GTD NOTE: The Viper Exchange GT3-R appeared to have finish the session 4th in the GTD class.

So to sum up the first practice, it looks pretty good and exciting at the same time. I'm not sure if the fastest lap times are completely accurate just yet. The field seems tight. Qualifying should be interesting to watch!

Updates are in and the Vipers are doing well especially with Bomarito and Farnbacher at the helm. Bell not so good. Im so happy that my friend and old instructor Andrew Davis got a last minute call to drive the Porsche with Foster and pretty boy Dempsey. He drove for Brumos before and is awesome.

A friend of mine makes a living as a motorsport photographer, and he's there. He does mostly road racing, and a whole lot of Ford Motorsports' photos are his, but he has managed to catch a Viper or two(this one is probably the blurriest picture I've ever seen him take). If you like that kind of stuff, you can check out more of his work here: http://www.wesduenkel.com/index.html

Great shot, looks like a wet track?

It was wet on Thur/Fri during some parts of the day. Today was actually kinda warm (80*). Over the last 3/4 there's been a wide variation in temps, great for getting data on tire choices

Been sick (and working) the last few days so I haven't been able to make any new notes. However from what I saw it appears the Corvette's are fastest, followed by Viper by a good .4xx. We've got some catching up to do. I wish I had access to some real data. I remember last year the Vipers had been alot faster in the corners than the straights. Most of the Daytona road course is setup to go fast.

IMSA just released their "Balance of Performance" adjustments for the Rolex 24. Looks like the Viper has been given a 30 kg weight reduction as well as an increase in fuel tank capacity. Article is here:
