One easy way to have higher performance is to have a lighter vehicle.

For example the Ariel Atom is only 300 HP but will do 0-60 in 2.7 seconds (completely naked/no body panels). The drivers sunglasses serve as the vehicle windshield. The most amazing thing about this vehicle other than weight is the boxed frame which hasn't been used in a production car since the 300SL. The difficulty with the stronger box frame is entering and exiting the vehicle which Mercedes solved by making gull wing doors. I imagine a car with no "doors", but a "batmobile" entry and exit and frame like the Ariel Atom with body panels of course.

I prefer more of a car than a cart. Plus getting pulled over by a Highway Patrol every time you take it on the freeway isn't any fun. That is what happens to my Buddy almost every time out. Since it is a specially registered vehicle and it looks like something built in a home garage, the cops constantly pull him over.

I would love to have one of the 4cyl atom's. I Don't care about getting pulled over a lot, as long as I am not getting a ticket. If you drive it enough the local cops get used to seeing it, word gets around, and you're good to go around here.

I always thought the Atom was cool until I saw the BAC Mono.

WOW. The Atom used to be my 100% impractacle dream car but that BAC Mono is just beautiful. I have a new standard of useless autos now that I really want :)

It's sad that cars like that struggle for registration when they are a lot safer than a motorcycle.

It might not take much to get one imported under some obscure hobbiest or kit legislation depending on the state, right? If only it were a motorcycle, it would be so much easier.

more useless but fun looking light weight vehicles. These are street legal as kit cars in America. :)

there are a bunch of varieties... Hyabusa powered with sequential shifting would be pretty good... S2000 powered... etc..
