While our focus is developing the car for endurance racing, we could not miss an opportunity to join SCCA Majors racers at Pacific Raceways last weekend - it was a great way to continue to dial in aero and suspension setup, and to mix it up with some of the SCCA driving talent :)

After avoiding a big tangle between 2 front runners, and another 2 cars that spun right in front of us on the second lap, we ran away to a 1st place finish in Sunday's race.

Success can be a dangerous lesson to learn from, so we started second race on the tires that were approaching the end of their useful life. We had a tough time battling Mike Henderson's ACR-X up to the very end, finally settling for a 3rd place in T1 class ( a short clip is below)

All in all, very happy with both the car's and team's performance. Momentary Racing, supported by RB Performance Brakes, took home 1st and 3rd place trophies in T1 class, by the end of our very first SCCA Majors weekend with the Viper.

Awesome video! Thanks for posting! I'd be scared as hell doing the same thing with all those trees etc!

The same sintered rear pad* was tested on iron brake rotors - A Viper ACR-X race car reporting a very positive result in initial bite, modulation and durability. The rear ZR1 pad is the same as the front pad of this Viper ACR-X.

Momentary Racing, Portland Race Report

Due to the rule & regulation the team can only run on stock set up i.e. 355x32mm rotors and 4 pot calipers (front and back), so our challenge is to improve the braking efficiency under the same constraint including:

1. Design and provide a less bias rear brake with RB4M calipers (same rear caliper as for Porsche rear) for a better brake balance. OE calipers put too much bias in the rear, so this improved rear caliper can shift 10% from the rear toward the front.

2. A brake pad set that can last for 25 hours endurance race in Thunderhill this coming December w/o having to change during the course, which RB sintered pads look very promising with some cooling improvement to lower the braking temperature.

3. A thicker (34/36mm) front rotor that could help to lower the braking temperature and prolong the pad life - This involves other modification which is being reviewed and undertaken.

We are proud to be a sponsor of Momentary Racing - Formed by a group of intelligent weekend racers and it's our pleasure to work with them to win the race with limited resources.

Congrats and the video had me momentarily rooting for another pass between you two -------and hoping for a longer video of that busy and scenic track. Thanks for sharing and keep us posted on your further exploits. Assume if you are running the 25 hours of Thunderhill the team is running both NASA and SCCA?! Look forward to some video of that event in the future.

Thanks.

We are looking at 25hr this year. There's some engineering still to be completed, and we would need to add drivers (and some good old fashioned race "financing") for that race. Hesitant to make any promises before all the pieces are in place. Let's just say that if everything comes together and we feel we have a good shot at winning the thing, we will make it happen.
