Saw this a couple days ago, it was what I expected. I think thats a 1R with some 2R options. Fast car for sure. I believe the Viper owner also owns a GEN II Viper that he is building for 2000hp.
No surprise there. Not a whole lot on the street that can run with a UGR 2R car.

Down 500hp = no chance. Nice fun run though. Would love to see a G5 build that could give the biggest UGR Lambo's a run. Tough to beat that Gallardo/Huracan package on street or mile track.

My thoughts exactly, Lambo brought a gun to a knife fight. No way did the Snake stand a chance being down 500hp....JM2C

Should have brought this guy. This Viper did 200.5 in the half mile (on a dusty uphill back half track) so don't think it would beat the 1600hp Lambo but it would have been much much closer.

Still two badass cars going at it. Making power has never been a problem for the Viper. Try to use it effectively with RWD is the problem. On the drag strip...none of those cars come close to what a Viper can do...but that AWD on the street and at 1/2 and mile events is nasty. We need a 12 inch wheel so we can put a 355/75/12 slick on it...maybe that would get good traction with 2500whp. :D

It's for sale btw on another forum.
UR lambos are amazingly hard to catch , almost unbeatable when it comes to roll racing.

Anyone in the market for an Underground Gallardo, for the love of all that's holy, don't buy a car and send it to them! If you peruse Lamborghini-talk or other Lambo forums, every couple of months brand new conversions end up hitting the classifieds for steep discounts, soon after their built. Not because they fall apart, but most owners don't realize the car they'll be getting requires a little for commitment than a standard car.
Already built Underground cars are really quite a bargain performance wise, if you're the roll in Mexico kind of guy. Especially the LPs.

I badly want one in Arancio Borealis or Verde Ithaca but can't get over the pricepoints of those cars. It doesn't really matter if they are a 1R/2R/2R+/3R. You can pretty much tack on $100k-150k to the price of the used lambo for the asking resale price. I've never seen modded cars get nearly full/over full value of the car plus mods like the UGR TT cars do. One of these days when the price comes out of the stratosphere I'll own one.

Agreed, however the Viper owner had been "calling out" the Lambo owner for some time and wanted the race to happen.

The Viper was overmatched but we're talking just throwing nitrous on a bolt on Viper vs. a full engine build with a standalone ECU and twin turbos.
When you turbo the Viper and build the motor and do similar things you get the kind of cars Nth Moto built.
I'm just wondering if built Gen V twin turbos can hit some of these 1600+ whp numbers that are the norm now in the Gallardos/Huracans/R8 tuning world.

Jerry, you always have great taste in cars, all the way back in my memory to the fabled Steel Gray/Red GTS. That will always be one of my favorites. A gated G is something to be proud of as well of course! Who would've thought you would stick with manual trans cars? :)

Yes. Power isn't the hard part, especially dyno figures. Heck, correction factors and graph smoothing can swing a car 40-70 HP without too much trouble in the big power ranges which is a big reason we don't fret so much over them. These long duration races that are so popular now are true testaments to durability and push all the builders to produce top notch stuff.
All things considered that nitrous car is pretty awesome - that's a lot of bang for your buck! That holds true to the Viper platform in general; every car has a "fiscal cliff" as I like to say where the price goes way up and the gains may seem more marginal. Viper's are good candidates to spread those out farther than some other platforms. Make no mistake though, any platform is costly to build to 10/10ths like the fastest 1/2 mile and roll race cars are these days.
In case anyone missed it, here is a video of Mullet's super fast X package Gallardo with the air shifted sequential box and all. It was by far and away the fastest trap speed car at TX2K16 this year but the quickeness is what counts as it's still an ET race. At around the 2:55 mark you see him line up against one of our recent Gen 3 builds - this was the owners first time in the Viper since being built by us and we were using the event as a test outing for the upcoming Texas Invitational race that was ultimately cancelled. We were all very pleased to run with Mullet's car as well as we did knowing how much was left untapped still. Mullet got Felipe by a bunch of MPH at the end showing the top end power that he was throwing at the car, but the difference to cross the finish line was only .121 seconds - a long time in racing but well within reach given seat time. Enjoy!

I remember back in the Gen 2 days there were a few in the 1500 - 2000rwhp range. Chads yellow beast that I think was the first in the 8's and 7's in the quarter mile. I remember a particular full weight street Viper that did 7 sec pass at 18x-190 mph in the 1/4 if memory serves. I think it was a red car. I miss those days. Vipers have no trouble making comparable power to any of the current big dogs but they have AWD and dct/auto which give them quite an advantage.

Absolutely but as someone with a built motor and built dual clutch car with boost... I'm not doing that ever again. I'll take the manual and less headaches. I know it's not as fast but it sure is easier and cheaper to get the manual to hold big power reliably.
Regarding comparable power, we just have yet to see it with the Gen V. So far we're around 1500 whp or so maybe 1600 although no graph of that yet I don't think. I'm sure they'll get there.

Personally after owning a 6spd G, you couldn't pay me to own another one. Different strokes though I suppose.
The Huracan seems like the car to have now if you want to street/roll race. I still think a Properly setup Viper is going to be more fun and more affordable on the street. With that being said its hard to argue with 46+ inches of contact patch provided by an AWD Lambo or GTR. I just don't enjoy driving AWD cars. I'd rather be slower and having fun now.

You summed it up perfect. I agree 100%. I test drove a GTR and did my best to try and like the car but it's just not for me. What appeals to me most in the Viper is that I can work on it myself in my own garage, inexpensive to maintain, and a 6-Speed that's blast to drive. I enjoy driving the Viper more than any other car I've owned. Just hope one day I can boost this thing.

There's something really satisfying about making a hit in a RWD car with some serious steam and a traditional 3 pedal manual transmission. It's a feeling of accomplishment mixed with pure adrenaline derived from that fact that you are truly part of the equation - a required part to the car actually being fast. As a side effect the car can effectively have less power than other platforms that have modern transmission technology and still deliver the thrills required to be excited. And at the end of the day this hobby is all about putting a smile on your face from the driving experience, and there are many paths to take to get there.

Very well said. And I can agree as I still drive my Viper often as I can. Its the raw attitude , sound and even if it makes half the power the Lambo makes its still one of my favorites. Car is always a ton of fun to pedal.
I understand the dislike of AWD and see how some don't care for it. The manual 6 speed cars have always been a favorite for me as they bring that visceral feel and rawness into such a refined and smooth car. Have never been an Egear fan. I do believe the Huracan platform will be very hard to top especially roll racing / street racing.

The sounds and feel are hard to replace. We showed a '65 LeMans convertible we built at the local C&C this morning with an open pipe'd all aluminum 540+" twin turbo Pontiac engine and the music it makes at idle makes up for any lack of technology. It even has a carbon fiber and billet aluminum intake manifold. :)
