Installed new tires right before NVE2, now I have an extra set laying around. Need some new ideas on what to use them for. Currently, I have a rolling table and some mounted on the walls. Was thinking about changing out the table legs for the tires and install a glass top but I would need more tires to get that done. Anyone else have any good ideas?

If I had an old set collecting dust, I'd be mounting them and turning them into smoke at local burnout comps. :)

Wow. You already did or bested my ideas. Gorgeous stuff! I have a coffee table I made out of an original wheel and tire in the front room of my house that is all Viper decorated. But you already have that idea. And you already mounted some on the walls which is cool. I really like the one with the diamondplate and Vipers in it. I don't know about putting the tires around the legs of your table. They would take up a lot of space and get people's pants dirty when they sat there, if that's what you meant about replacing the legs wih tires.
--Perhaps do one like the one with diamondplate in it but instead of that, do a piece of tin or lucite as a flat background with maps of famous tracks on them. Sam Goldfarb is a decal wizard and can print awesome die-cut vinyl decals for you of exactly that. (He has done some really cool custom stuff for me over the years.) black with the track map in blue would match your lighting. But I personally would do black lucite with red vinyl track map.
--same idea but instead of tracks a tire with metal or lucite backing and then all of the ACR records on it
--cut the tire down to basically almost just the sidewall and an inch of tread and mount on a background with your credentials from NVE in it. I am currently working on something similar with my NVE memorabilia. Also instead of diamondplate, you can get vinyl diamondplate tiles for a drop ceiling in different finishes (my favorite is a burned copper) that will make for a nice mounting background and easy to cut and very lightweight. That's what I am playing with.
--again mount the tire sideways on your wall and in the center put a digital photo frame that rotates through Viper commercials or personal Viper photos. (That's what I am doing to tie in with our NVE trip and am going to give it to the club as an auction item I think. )
--It would take up some space, but perhaps you could get one wheel from each generation Viper (can probably find one slightly damaged from X2 like I did for my coffee table) and mount the tire on it and have a wheel and tire for each generation through the evolution of the Viper on the wall. You would have to source a 17" tire for the first year but not as hard if it doesn't need to be roadworthy.
--for the tires already on the wall, you could get the front emblem for your car or one from each generation and stick that on the tread of the tire as it sits on the wall.
These are sorta just riffs on stuff you have already done. So I don't know if I have any ideas that are completely brand new, unfortunately. Thanks for sharing what you did already though. I love it.
Good luck. And the good news is if you need more tires, I'm sure someone in your club is never too far away from a new set. Have fun!!!

I like the idea of a digital photo frame. Ok, I think I have a plan then. I will replace the table with the tires as the base and get a nice glass top. Will find a good sized digital photo frame and place it under the glass top and inside the tire. Thanks for the ideas.

Here is the vinyl tile that I like. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Fasade-Diamond-Plate-2-ft-x-2-ft-Revealed-Edge-Lay-in-Ceiling-Tile-in-Antique-Bronze-L66-31/203822740
In person it looks exactly like diamondplate except it is very light and easy to cut if you are doing something custom with it. Plus I like that you can pick a variety of finishes. I happen to be partial to the Copper type finish but that could be an Arizona thing. I was probably going to use it like matting (though they do make actual photo matting that is diamondplate and it looks great if you are framing something professionally) for some NVE stuff and a digital photo frame as a gift to the club.
Let me know if you want to see pics of my coffee table to see what I did. I see what you mean now of doing the tires in the center. I thought you meant stack tires where the legs were now. I think the center with glass will look really nice. You will definitely need to shore up the tires though or else they will be super wobbly, but I'm sure you knew that.
Be sure to share what you come up with. You've done some very cool stuff already. I'll be excited to see what you do next.
Have fun!

Rear tires make good garden swings for the little kids, just throw a rope over a strong branch and tie it to the tire :)
Drill some holes in the bottom to help with drainage should it rain.

That's some pretty cool stuff!! I shoulda kept my old worn out tires when I changed them out last spring. Not sure my wife would like old tires hanging around the house, but hey, art is art
