VENOM V

After tracking at four tracks and seeing the need for downforce on high speed sweeping corners, I've been really needing the carbon aero kit (rear spoiler plus both splitters). It was originally offered through Mopar at $12,090, which I found insulting considering it can be had as a factory option for $4,800 when ordered on the Viper. I wrote a letter expressing my frustration, and got an immediate and positive response. They just re-priced it at $5,525, thanks to some help from someone whom I admire at SRT. Thanks for listening, SRT.
And a big thanks to Mark Jorgensen, who just sold it to me at a discount below that. Mark and Bill have both been there for me to offer advice over the past year on all-things Viper, these guys are assets to the Viper community.
I think it's good that Viper owners now have a choice of OEM or aftermarket carbon aero parts. Although I paid a little more for the OEM carbon aero kit, here's why I chose it:
OEM parts on a 100% stock Viper will maintain better resale value
An engineered solution that was optimized and proven in a wind tunnel
Attached with urethane epoxy, rather than 3M tape (both may be fine, but I'm more confident in epoxy at high track speeds and over time)
Replaceable skid plates on splitters
Ralph told me that the OEM solution should hold up well to sunlight degradation over it's life
I'll be trying out the carbon aero package at Big Willow Springs in early March, which is nicknamed the fastest track in the west. The track record is held by an '08 ACR driven by none other than Dominik Farnbacher. It is also the track that was used for the recent TA media launch.
