Hello!
While driving in a downtown environment, circling and looking for parking I can hear the rear end making moans and groans. I purchased the oil and mopar additive but looking at my records that was less than 8,000 miles ago. How difficult is it to remove the differential cover from an '04 to inspect for damage? I see it has two support arms on top. Also is the gasket reusable or something I should order now before removing.

thanks
Ralph

The arms are part of the diff cover. So you have to remove the diff to take the cover off.

this guy is using rtv to reseal the cover.

Did you install the the fluids you purchased? or did a dealership do it?

It's an easy do it yourself project. Get a service manual if you're apprehensive about it. Purchase the fluids from the dealer and this would be an oporune time to put in a drain plug.

Thanks for the reply all.
I did the oil change myself using all mopar fluids and the friction additive. It worked fine for the last 8k miles but now this... I will be doing the oil change again but thought removing the differential cover would have been easier. I guess oil and if not pulling the whole unit. Looking at our forum and others gen 3 diffs are faulty.

Thanks again !

Any chance you were mashing the throttle while on a bumpy road?
