View Full Version : Dressing up my Gen V with Led lights

Just installed new led lights and figured I'd share since I searched on here for pics and didn't see anything yet. Bought them cheap on Amazon and wired them to my front headlight to turn on and off with my lights. Very simple.

I like it but you might want to check the laws in your state on red lights on the front of a car. I don't think it's legal in most places but I could be wrong....been out of law enforcement for a long time now.

Very cool, I like it.

Yes it's not legal but I've installed a switch to tutn it off when driving. Just something to play with when parked.

I never thought I'd see that. It's definitely "unique" and...not for everyone.

Id put lights in the engine bay if I was going to do it for car shows at night

Honestly I'm not a fan... Cheap LED on such a wonderful hand crafter car seems uncomplmentary. But you need to enjoy the car the way you want to.. You earned it!

Why do you care? Its your car..

Since you asked for opinions, I'll be honest with mine. I think it adds a lot of cheese factor to a high end car. It reminds me of the Camaro/Mustang/SRT8 guys who put the colored LED's and halo lights everywhere, screaming for attention. Certainly a different mindset, vs the performance-minded guys I associate with.

But if you like it, enjoy it.

It's likely to impress the Corvette guys at Cars and Coffee, it will reflect nicely off the mirrors under their hood.

I think it will definitely help you at the Cars 3 movie auditions. You could legally pull off another color but red, orange and blue are reserved for public safety. If accidentally left on, you will be nailed by the fuzz.

Doesn't look too bad but not something I would ever do to a Viper. Your car so do what you feel a need to do. Why stop there though? Interior needs a light awakening as well.

All great comments and funny too. Just wanted to try something different and get opinions. I'm well aware of the cheese factor which is why I'm asking. Again, not driving around with them on but something to play with when parked. My little ones loved it when I parked next to the local Mater tow truck look alike...

OK, since we opened it up to honest opinions. The Gen V is a naturally beautiful woman with very little make-up on. Lighting her up like that makes her look like a cheap hooker. The Camaro and Mustang crowd have to do it to attract attention. The Viper crowd does not. Having said that, its your car. Do what pleases you! (But no painted dolphins on the hood, please ! )

Definitely not my cup of tea and seems pep boys inspired. Sorry.. I have the same sentiment when I see people do enormous chrome wheels on a Rolls.. Cheapens an otherwise wonderful modern marvel.

Again.. Your car your money and your enjoyment is what matters.

Don't worry guys I'm having as much fun reading these comments as you! Anyway I already removed the ones from the grill. I couldn't stand to be like the camaro and mustang crowd as mentioned above. One less douche on the road! And KITT is going back in retirement....

I kinda like the light in the air intake so keeping that a while longer.

I liked it... makes it look evil. To each their own. But i'm still in the SRT8 crowd and not yet graduated to Viper status. Soon though, hopefully.

I'll work on my taste in the mean time

Agreed. I had an SRT8 (2007 Charger Superbee) which was in your face enough without any dress up! (I want to get back into an SRT8 at some point in the future). But some of the SRT8 crowd.....sheeesh! Almost all of them good peeps though. Made (and still have) a lot of friends!

Stick some curb feelers on that shit along with some dice in the windshield, metal chain steering wheel and you will be ready to roll

99% of the population would think this is cool, especially at a car show. 100% would say so at night.
Any man that would talk shit about another man's car mods is an A-hole in my opinion. If a car mod makes the owner happy then guess what, it's a badass mod.

99% is optimistic. If someone posts their mod and highlights it, they are soliciting opinions. They will get good and bad.
Why should I like whatever someone else does on their car and not criticize it? Same rules for a house, clothes, hair etc? You're too ego invested
in your vehicles if that's what you think.

Respectfully disagree. Have you ever seen a donk? How about stance? Or a ricer? Truck nutz?

I don't care how happy a mod makes a car owner, if it's ridiculous, 99% of the population will joke him on it.

I have a few lights on my 2011 Mopar 11. I take a lot of grief for it too. I am thinking about getting a giant Fist graphic on the side of the car and adding some unneccesary wings and a folgers can exhaust to it.

Let's not criticize the fuzzy dice...Lol... Fuzzy dice are reminiscent of the muscle car era, and our cars are nothing but pure muscle. As with anything, when a mod is done in "moderation" or "good taste", and not too gaudy, it makes sense. I agree that it may not make sense or look good to everyone but that's because we are from different molds and have our own individual opinions, like it or not.

Please take off the lights so we can have the peace and quiet back around here. I never thought a few lights can cause so much rokus amongst such a peaceful group of people. :smilielol:
I still think you posts are funny as hell and I will never say anything bad about your mods no matter how bad they are.:lol2:
