View Full Version : Cell Phone mounts

I'm probably overthinking this, but I was wondering if anyone had a good suggestion for a cell phone mount. My specific intent is so I can run waze within a field of view for my road trips instead of having it just sittng on the center console propped up against the ring around the shifter.
The layout doesn't seem to yield much territory for most of what I have seen in friend's cars (yes I do have friend *tears up*)
I'm running a note 4, but I imagine the iphone 6whatever people are in the same boat.
First world problems I tell ya.
I authored a similar thread not too long ago.
Let me find and link it.
Found it.
Maybe this will help?

I have used this phone mount for a year now. Works perfectly in the ashtray opening.

I use this "flat mount" charger in the console with a 1 foot cord and it works perfectly for long runs using Waze and 9500ix.

That a great idea (ashtray? :o).
Seems to be limited to "standard" sized phones. I have to see if they have on for "phablets" like an edge+.

I think what you want is a suction mount on the windshield. Ram Mount makes a good one with a number of attachments.

I tried that and there is just so little windsheild, I am not comfortable with something as big as a phone blocking my forward view at all.

I have mine below the rear view mirror. Doesn't bother me. I hardly notice it when I'm not looking for it. It's a case of individual preference. Lower left seems like a good spot. Haven't tried it yet.

an extended flexible arm would be great if it drops it to vent hight would be stellar, but it's not like places will let me test fit everything.
I completely relate with what FrgMster said though, which is why I started the thread. One of the local guys here has his phone up in his ACRX. I like to joke that he is using waze on the track. Left turn now!

Save your money and get the iOttie and stick it on the window rather than spending $40. The mount on that iOttie actually stayed stuck onto the dash of my Viper vertically for almost 3000 miles on Dustball Rally before it fell off.....yeah the textured dash! That thing is a beast. I do however not suggest that as is left a huge dent and footprint in the dash too from the suction cup....finally went away after a couple months.

Scosche Magic mount
There are a whole lot of options for that Scosche (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dmobile&field-keywords=Scosche+Magic+mount?tag=hardfocom-20). Just seems odd that your phone would stick to it that well though.

I get you, but I could not handle it there. I hate the damn rear view being there! :p

You call that "cup holder" around here, and I swear to god I will testify in a court of law that I do not know what you are talking about. :t1253:

Well, I took the standard mount, trimmed it down, and screwed it into the din mount. There are super strong magnets in the rubber pad. I just had it on there for a lapping day and it didn't fall off or even move.
