Looking for radiator hoses and Emergency Brake pads for Gen III

Hey guys, I've been looking for radiator hoses that don't collapse. I saw a forum post on here about the stainless steel but it doesn't look like it's being released soon.

That pad looks right for the e-brake. And god knows I would rather pay $23 a set than $60 to wear those bastards into dust for no reason.

And if you are going to pay that much for upgraded radiator hoses, I say get upper and lower hard pipes for $400 (http://www.racingsolutions.com/products/rsi-coolant-hard-pipe-kit-for-dodge-viper.html) and never worry about it again. Calvo does the upper, but not the lower, I think for $200. http://www.calvomotorsports.com/

Stainless seems like overkill. Silicone hoses should last forever. Are the gen 3 and gen 4 hoses the same? I'm guessing not.

So I'll give an update regarding the Raybestos Parking Brake pads that I ordered from RockAuto for $26. Noticeable differences: 1) The pads are not as thick as the stock pads - probably only about 2/3rds as thick as the stock pads, 2) The pads have a slot down the center, 3) Shape appears identical of the pads and the metal, with the only possible difference being the center hole - it appears more oblong on the raybestos. 4) The Raybestos pads have an anti-squeal metal spacer on the back of the pad, 5) The Raybestos kit DOES NOT include a replacement shaft or cotter pin - and I just reused the existing ones - (I think the mopar set may include these.)

The pad thickness is the biggest difference/concern. While not a very hard job - 1/2 hour tops for each side - will this mean that they will wear quicker - or possibly will these subtle changes make them last the same or longer? Time will tell. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to easily turn the cylinder back in. Here's a few pics:

The stock e-brake setup is notorious for rubbing even when NOT in use, especially on the inboard pad. Neglect these, and you can ruin your rear rotors. It's more of an issue if you're constantly using the e-brake.

Me too. I can't pull the trigger. In the mean time I've been looking at electrically actuated calipers. That would be trick.

Yep, this is why I don't use it..If you don't use the e brake it won't self adjust, once it wears that's it...Until you use it again...EMERGENCY brake is not only it's name but it's function...lol


when I park I make sure the car barely rolls, then once put in gear it's not going anywhere. Sorry for all the bills in the hills. Love me the south but thoes damn hills, urghhhhhh

For me, using the parking brake is habit (and I think an added measure of safety when starting/parking the Viper.) Learned the hard way on my Gen 1 that a very slight incline can lead to a scraped front splitter.

It will be interesting to see if the subtle changes in the pads makes a difference one way or the other or because of the inherant design flaw in the parking brake system and the lesser pad material on the Raybestos will mean that I need to change them sooner.
