I have been looking for chrome exhaust tips for my 2003. The Viper Store carries them for Gen IV Vipers but they said that Gen III's outlet pipe varies and they can't assure the fit will work out. Does anyone know of an after market parts source that carries the item and if not, has anyone done this as a DIY project. My outlet is 3.25 inches. Chrome tips are available for a 3.25 outlet. However, to look right I think you would need an angle cut tip which makes this a bit more of a challenge. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Just tips for the purposes of looks? I would think any exhaust shop could weld a slip on over the tip just for looks.

I have the corsa tips that came with the catback. They look good but you can barely see them and I know they are gonna get all blackened up over time so I'm not too worried about them. Try calling partsrack and they may carry something.

Yep, just for looks. I was not sure if a muffler shop would have 3.25 inch tips but it would not hurt to make some calls. I do like to do things myself however and hate for anyone to touch my cars, particularly exhaust shop guys. I have never had particularly good experiences in those places.

Since the Viper exhaust is made of stainless, I would think you could just polish the existing tips and make them look pretty good. They may not end up being as shiny as chrome tips though, but it would sure cost a lot less then buying new tips.

Interesting- when new I wonder if they were shiny, makes sense. I will clean them up and see what we have. Thanks, I am glad I posted my inquiry. Maybe "Mothers" can make it happen for me :)

I feel you on the exhaust shop thing. Luckily I know a good shop here in Tucson but I get your concern. I figured just welding on a tip is pretty hard to mess up but then, the right idiot can mess up anything.

I feel you may be shoveling a walk in a snowstorm though. Ever wonder why the exhaust surround is flat black, even on black cars? Seems like you would have to make it a priority to keep them pretty. Mine are very close to flush with the sills so I don't get too worried about them.

I had the corsa cat back on my 02 and of course you can really see them in the Gen IIs. It was a constant issue. Sometimes I would even go out and clean just them when the car hadn't been driven for a day or so. The rest of the car was plenty clean but I would do the exhaust tips and wheels. Now I just went with a permanent fix for the wheels. : )

Good luck. Let us know how the stainless polish works.

The Belanger slip fit tips on the Viper store may not be a bad option - nice looking tips (had to watch my spelling there - lol) and eliminates the crossover and all of the associated heat. Although for that price - almost worth considering a full cat back system with the tips. I think you'd be wasting your time trying to polish the current tips.

I did have some nevr-dull and it cleaned them up but they do not shine at all, worth a try however. I am considering the slip fit tips but as you pointed out, for $500 you can just about get mufflers as well. Owning a Viper is truly unlike anything else I have ever owned. This kind of stuff is so easy for your normal muscle car, nothing but choices, choices, choices. Worth the extra effort however!

I recommend the corsa cat back with high flow cats. Great sound, nice little power bump, and nice tips. Again though, if you make it a priority to make them shiny, I think it stays a priority. Cause they will want to carbon up on you. I think it's just the design.

Either way you spell it, they are fun to look at and you don't want ones that are too droopy.

Hello CarGirl :-) You replied to a thread i put on regarding Belanger tips as i was seeking same kind of outcome as you.
What did you decide in the end? Have you had a result?
Myself, i have narrowed it down to possible Belanger tips as it gives the polished pipe exit look i seek as you do. Plus a slight increase in sound without changing standard exhaust characteristics. I dont want a significant increase in loud hence i have been carefully researching as best as i possibly can.
I am at present, torn between Corsa Cat back which seems to be the most popular Viper owner choice (Vprbite gave some great feedback on my thread on other part of forums) or the Belanger tips and also, i have recently (at a damn good price too!!) come across MOPAR cat back like the Corsa but half the price! But again, i am looking to find out info on that before i make final decision. Like you, i am totally consumed with adoration and pride in my Viper. Its a unique machine and a 20 plus year wait to be able to be the owner of one that i am now. Its breathtaking :-) Cheers.

Thanks for your input. So far I have done nothing (except bought another car, 1970 Pace Car) My Viper is "almost" perfect with the problem being the exhaust. For resale, you can't go wrong with stock. However, I took it out last night and it always comes to being disappointed by the exhaust tips and the lack of sound. A car that mean and nasty just needs more of a growl. I thought the Belanger's might be good but have not moved on it yet. They would eliminate the crossover and 'might" give me the sound I am looking for. Agreed getting it right the first time, I hate investing lots of bucks only to be disappointed by the result. I like the price of the Mopar cat-back system, would you install it yourself? Is there a online video of the sound of the Mopar system?

Well, I have decided to get the Belanger Tips :-) and i have ordered just now. Made a decision. :-)
My decision also involved a Corsa Cat-Back 2nd hand but hardly used at all.Handful of hours tops and they look mint (as new) I am awaiting post quote seeing as i am in Australia etc etc.
The Mopar exhaust i seemed to have discovered on You Tube clip of a light blue GTS with white stripes which funnily enough, is posted up by JEGS who sell that pipe :-) Sounds pretty neat to me :-) I like the fact it is extremely well priced. I chatted to them on the phone about it and its rated up there with the Borla/Corsa Cat Backs. He assures no drone...... (then he would being sales hahahahaha)
Way i see it, I will have stock, the Belanger Tips, and either the Mopar or the 2nd hand Corsa :-) Yep, getting there :-) So i reckon a result somewhere :-)
Sometimes one has to say 'f**k it' and make a start :-)
Will let you know down the line how these are. I will try to record as accurate the actual sound as possible too :-)
Mark

So you are getting a cat back system with exhaust tips too? If your going thru all that trouble why not get new mufflers with your cat back system and forget the tips altogether? The exhaust tips seems like a good way to keep your stock system and just remove the crossover pipe, let a bit better sound and a cooler appearance. If your going cat back, might as well switch out the mufflers as well.

Cargirl...... Some feedback for you :-)
Have got the Belanger Tips and now have them fitted.
I can tell you they not only look good but sound good as well.
Very happy with the look and outcome.
An increase in 'noise' from idle upwards :-)
For me, perfect as not too loud but has that slightly deeper tone, maintains the exhaust characteristics (acoustics if you like) including the 'popping' :-)
Eliminates the crossover pipe which i think is a factor on sound too.
All in all, Belanger tips are a great option for that polished side exit look aligned to removal of crossover pipe (reduction in cabin heat!) and gaining the increase in sound from idle all the way through..... i am positive you will be happy. I most certainly am :-)
For me, it sounds just right now :-) How it should.
Hope this helps. :-)
