Anybody know these guys? https://www.facebook.com/Saad-Racing-138317469580184/
They come to these events in a twin turbo Gen 2 and run close to 200 in the half. Is the owner here?

A Ford GT went 279+ at the Texas Mile today. There were Vipers there, but I haven't seen any times yet.

That's nuts! Was the owner driving? I hate when I see the owners of these standing mile cars that hire drivers to break these records.

If my car could go 279 in the mile I would hire a driver too.....too fast for me to run on a runway of that length.

It is amazing that the car looks to be nearly stock bodied and does not go airborne.

279 is straight nuts! I wonder if the risk of a tire blowout is much higher at those speeds? One could only assume so.

Areed! 176 is scary enough. I think once I got to the speeds where I had to hire another driver, I'd just stay at the previous horsepower level. Imagine how you'd feel if the guy crashed and died in your car lol

Yeah. Like the Bugatti Veyron, once you hit over 250mph you have to replace the tires at a cost of $42,000. The wheels have to be replaced as well every other oil change at a cost of $64,000. LOL

Lmao. I remember watching a video about that. Crazy stuff.

Although the speed is crazy fast (and if anything went wrong, you've pretty much bought the farm) the actual runway is my problem. Not a lot of room for errors and if you do go off, no guardrail or retaining wall to keep you on the concrete, etc.

IIRC, these guys are just running Hoosiers....which is pretty amazing that a $400.00 tire can handle that kind of centrifugal force. Still amazed that it is pretty much a stock bodied FGT and does not want to turn into the Space Shuttle.
