How to install PartsRack E-Brake Relocation Kit on a Gen 3 & 4

This a guide that can be used to installed an E-Brake Relocation kit that can be purchased from Parts Rack. This is the way I installed it, but other methods are possible. Please use this at your own risk.

1. Raise the car to have access to remove the tunnel pan and the rear wheels.

2. Visual of OEM E-Brake equipment

3. Remove the 2 screws that hold the OEM cable bracket and the clips that connect the E-Brake cables and ABS wires together, save these screws because they will be reused
http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa231/2006Black300SRT8/PartsRack%20E-Brake%20kit/20131224_130138.jpg (http://s199.photobucket.com/user/2006Black300SRT8/media/PartsRack%20E-Brake%20kit/20131224_130138.jpg.html)

4. Once the bracket is unscrewed, remove the cable from the hook and pull the cable out of the bracket. Set the bracket in your tool box, you will not be it reusing
http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa231/2006Black300SRT8/PartsRack%20E-Brake%20kit/20131224_130808.jpg (http://s199.photobucket.com/user/2006Black300SRT8/media/PartsRack%20E-Brake%20kit/20131224_130808.jpg.html)

5. You will then remove the bolt that is holding the cable hook and spring to the caliper. once this bolt is removed, YOU WILL SWAP CABLE HOOKS BETWEEN SIDES, BUT THE SPRINGS STAY.

6. Install your pass side cable hook over to the drivers side and drivers side over to the pass side. Put the hook on and rebolt. Each caliper should look like the next 2 pictures

Drivers Side,

7. Have your PartsRack E-Brake Kit ready, notice they are labeled L & R
http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa231/2006Black300SRT8/PartsRack%20E-Brake%20kit/20131224_132149.jpg (http://s199.photobucket.com/user/2006Black300SRT8/media/PartsRack%20E-Brake%20kit/20131224_132149.jpg.html)

8. Install your Drivers (L) and Passengers (R) Brackets with the orginal screws from the bottom of the mount. They will thread into the blocks.

9. You now have your calipers ready to accept the cables. Your cables should look like this from the factory
http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa231/2006Black300SRT8/PartsRack%20E-Brake%20kit/20131224_125116.jpg (http://s199.photobucket.com/user/2006Black300SRT8/media/PartsRack%20E-Brake%20kit/20131224_125116.jpg.html)

10. Unbolt the 3 mounting points on each cable, total of 6 bolts you will remove. Once they are unbolted, pull the cables out of their current routing and let them hang between the transmission and rear end.

11. You will now fish the cables up through the triangles of the frame, where the rear end is bolted to and then cross them over the top of the rear end. Your drivers cable is now your passenger cable and passenger now the drivers side.
http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa231/2006Black300SRT8/PartsRack%20E-Brake%20kit/20131224_142729.jpg (http://s199.photobucket.com/user/2006Black300SRT8/media/PartsRack%20E-Brake%20kit/20131224_142729.jpg.html)

12. Now you will pull your cables through and bring them between the shock, sway bar and tie rod on your rear hub. You can see in the picture of how i routed the cable to the relocation block. See both drivers and passenger side. Once they are routed, you will put the end through the block and hook to the caliper. Secure the E-Brake cable using existing mounts on the cable with self taping screws. See passenger picture that is already secured. Also zip tie or secure the ABS wire to sway bar or method of choice

13. Reinstall tunnel panel.

14. Get in and test out the Emergency brake handle and make sure it tensions the cables up and engages

You are now ready to install your smaller wheels that required this kit.

Excellent write up, I have done this install before and am about to do it again :D. It's easy but confusing at the same time lol. Also I appreciate you keeping this install doc exclusive to both the VOA and the Alley.

Excellent job detailing this mod! Will this mod help with the E-brake inner pad wear problem also?
Thanks,
MI V.

Yes I believe so. I took the car out yesterday and the car seemed to roll back when on an incline more than it ever has before at some stops

This will not fix the inside pad wearing out and damage to the rotor, as the Brembo parking brake caliper's have a self adjuster which keep the inside pad rubbing on the rotor so that the pads do not have to travel far when engaged.

Thanks Jon. Just started pulling some stuff apart on the car again, so I'm sure I'll need something here shortly. Kit worked perfectly with my SSR's.
