So, after taking the '13 out in 18* temps yesterday morning for the R28/29 and R14 recalls, it is about 50 outside now. Got her out, went to C&C, and then to the brand new Audi dealer here in town, which had an open house. Then a little drive the longer way home, 26 miles total. May not seem like a lot, but boy, did it feel good! You can tell the car wanted to GO, but still a little chilly to really open up on Corsas with 10,000 miles.
I figured: if I pass R28, then she's good to drive the snot out of, if I fail, hell, I'm gonna get a new motor anyway, so drive the snot outta this one!! For all the naysayers, this car still impresses. Power, response, grip (even when chilly), she was shifting nice, even a little less diff whine with the warmer temps! Still can't believe I'm driving a car this good, and I'm not nearly good enough to take advantage of it.
Even with the QC issues, I am a Gen 5 believer, and sad that this car(the Viper brand, not my car) is going away. So feel free to post your POSITIVE experiences here!

Swexlin thanks for the post. I also am very happy with my 2013 gen5. I had it out the other day and put about 70 miles on it and of course it and myself wanted more. I have not experienced some of the problems that have been discussed on the forums and hope my car will past the R28 test. If not I will move ahead and do whatever is required to make this car again the great car it was design to be.

Every Viper ever made is special.
Glad you got yours out. I could drive mine everyday with this beautiful FL weather, but I try and keep it tucked away and drive it only a couple times a week so that it never becomes "usual" if you get what I am talking about.

Almost 60 degrees here in New England, which is a great change. The nicer weather definitely has got me thinking about my car. I hope to pull her down off the lift tomorrow, unplug the battery tender and fire her up. I also plan on washing the car. Not every car is enjoyable to wash but this one sure is. Adrenaline Red paints pops nice and bright once cleaned well in the sunlight and I enjoy spray waxing over the curves of the car, especially that curvy hood. Will probably be the first drive and wash in several months for mine. What's also cool about a Sunday fun day toy like this is when it's only driven 2-4 times per month, it feels that much more special when you get in it than if it were your daily. All Positive, and U Didn't Think I had It In me. Heh

Great post.
I can truly say more so than any other car I've ever owned, you really appreciate the GEN V Viper once you drive it. If you let it sit without getting behind the wheel for an extended period of time, you forget just how special this car really is.

I bought this Viper as a second weekend/track car. Was a rush purchase at the beginning of driving season, so I took what was available, out of 2 in the country to fit my criteria. The new Comp Blue was the only criteria, lol.
I knew I would like it obviously, as it wasn't my first Viper, and I missed my last one after I sold it. But I had no idea how good the car would be. People talk about the ride and NVH as being sub par, but I was pleasantly surprised. Aside from the obvious loud side exhaust, the transmitted road noise into the cabin was no worse than many high performance cars.
Compared to the Gallardo, I could drive it every day. Which I mostly do in the summer, as I don't work during most the summer. Maybe Jon could chime in, I never felt the Gallardo was fragile per se, but there was just something wrong about beating on it like I love to do to the Viper. Don't get me wrong, I would hit the redline in it daily, just to hear it. I took it to the track, and it performed very well, but it just didn't encourage being driven in anger.
And maybe that's the part of why I love the Viper but could never describe. If you could pick any car to own, to be driven in anger, there's no better choice than a Viper. IMO

I am really loving the 2014 I just got. I have put 2,500 miles on it since I bought it at Roanoke in Illinois. I am scheduled for the R29 on March 1st and I am hoping it comes out fine. I currently have 11,550 miles. I am really pleased with the pro-active way Dodge is dealing with this. Many companies could just say " drive it and if it blows up be sure to call us". It makes me happy to have a company that is working hard to make sure the customer is well taken care of. I will be sure to post my results.

I drove my TA about 9-10 hours total, last week. Weather down here has been in the 70s, perfect. It still gets better mpg than my 4x4 truck :)

Tony what do u average for mpg? I think I'm around 14 combined which is pretty good considering my tank of an SUV does the same number.

16-17, but most of my driving is on the highway. Sure wish 6th gear wasn't so high on rpm though, for the noise alone.

Took my 14 GTS to work twice this week and my wife and I are taking her out again today to attend our Regional Club's annual meeting. It hit 75 here in Denver this past week. Should be in the 50's here today. Sweet. I have my 14 scheduled for R28 & R29 on Wednesday and my TA 2.0 scheduled for R29 the following week.

I've got the revised higher 6th gear for lowered cruising RPMs on my 2015, but it still seems pretty high RPMs for the power available, I can't imagine what it's like much higher. There needs to be some comfortable middle ground between the ridiculous moonshot OD from the previous gens to what they have now. Although, with the lower rear gearing, maybe to old moonshot OD wouldn't be so bad?

it's 2C/36F here in Western Canada and although the snow is gone, we still have rocks on the road for at least another 2 weeks.
My baby is sitting under her cover in our garage and it's driving me insane.
Soon... soon.
side note - TA 1.0 aero kit ordered, spoiler, splitters, brake ducts and applique.

Well except for Viper orange ;) ... haha. Getting asked "what is that?" literally every time I stop for gas, seeing cell phones arms length out the windows of drivers by to video/pic it, or the PM's/emails to buy it never gets old.... this Gen is bad ass :)

I haven't regretted this purchase for a second. The car is the new benchmark for what I want in a sports car. I'll have to see if anything else can match it. I'm doubtful.
