Both headlights units on my gen4 vert have a condensation problem. Am I the only one to have the problem and what is the cure? :England:

My headlights also fog up on the inside. My 2 bddies with a GEN 3 also have the same problem now and then. It is especially L shaped condensation. The botom part fogs up and it goos up via the turn indicators.

So I'm not alone - in which case there must be an answer.

I had that issue on my 08. Dealer replaced under warranty. The warranty replacements did the same thing. Dealer would not replace them a second time. Gave me a piece of paper that Dodge stated that it was normal for them to fog... Also got my fenders and hood gap screwed up when the dealer did it. Better to leave it alone.

Neither if my Gen IVs had it. Haven't seen it locally but will keep an eye out.

You can probably dry them out by heating them up with a hair dryer but its not a permanent solution. Once dry putting clear silicone around the seams might work.

Running a new bead of clear RTV silicone is really the only way to prevent them from fogging.

Also, they should have small rubber breather tubes on the back of the headlights. If those become clogged or missing, the headlight will fog up.

Thanks for the input - I'm going to take the units out - reseal with clear silicone and check the breather tubes. I'll report back when the job is complete and successful.....

Mine do the same (only at the bottom, and certainly not as bad as previous Mustangs I've owned) especially after washing the car or cold damp weather. However it cures itself in no time at all when put back in the garage. Unless it gets real bad, I don't think its worth bothering with. Probably won't happen in Summer.

Only time I noticed this was a cold 5 hr drive in the rain..

From my understanding it is a vented system, and are supposed to fog slightly at certain environmental conditions.

I think it depends on the climate you live in. Here in Belgium we have a humid climate and they fog up very fast. when I am in the south of France in a Mediterranean climate there is no fogging up.

Every new Dodge pickup I see has fogged up head light housings, it may be a Dodge thing, or more likely a modern headlight assembly thing. Needless to say my 08 does it and I hate it.

Being a first time viper owner, I thought it was a one off problem but it appears not...... likewise, I hate it.
