What is the easiest way to get the sway bar link to release from the lower control arm?

Don't even mess with it there. Take both center bushings loose from the frame and swing it out of the way. The end links are too stubborn to bother with in the control arms.

Remember to put that lower shock bolt in the other direction when it goes back together so you don't have to do that again!

Put car on jack stands, which allows the wheels to "hang". Remove left and right side wheels for the axle makes it easier. Remove lower sway bar link nut from below lower control arm on the side that you wish to remove. Use a floor jack to raise the lower control arm on the opposite side - this will "pop" free the sway bar link on the loosened side.

Someone else had recommended an air hammer to tap on the sway bar link stud. I had already bought one yesterday from Harbor Freight for $13.99 so went ahead and tried it today and it popped loose right away.

Anyway thanks for all the help.

You don't even need to remove the link to remove the bolt, pry the bolt head around and over and will come out, re install the bolt so the nut faces the end link.
