question on exhaust mod

I'm thinking of replacing the second cat in the side sill with straight thru pipe and leaving the primary cat the way it is. Hopefully this will reduce some side sill heat (I am also gonna add some insulation) but not throw any codes like the high flow cats. has anyone tried this? if so did it reduce heat? how did it effect sound? did it throw any codes?

any help appreciated, I don't really want to destroy the stock exhaust if it isn't gonna help.

I am not sure on the Gen 5, but people cut the second cat on the gen 3 and 4 all the time with no code issues. I am sure it would be the same for the Gen 5, but have not tried myself.

Very curious what your results from this mod will be as far as sound, heat and codes. If you do it please post your results.
