I have a 2002 GTS, all stock. The FSM reads to use 75w-85 gear oil in the transmission. The T-56 is a synchromesh transmission, so why doesn't the FSM state to use this type of fluid? I have a 91' ZR-1 Corvette, also with a manual, and synchromesh oil is recommended.

I want to change the transmission fluid using an Amsoil product like their sychromesh oil. I really like Amsoil products and want to change everything over to their products. Thanks.

What does it say on the transmission itself?

Use the AMSOIL. That's what I run in my 2002. It has the MOPAR synchromesh cross reference number on the bottle as an OEM equivalent oil...so in fact, you are using what the transmission recommends....just the AMSOIL equivalent product.

I use Amsoil in my 2000 GTS, No Problems. :)

I use Severe Gear 75-140 in the rear Diff, (no need to add slip loc)

and Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90 API GL4 in the Trans. :)

A daft thing, but I also love the shape of the Bottles :D
