View Full Version : Do you have protection - are you boomerangless

I just had another 100 sets of the Boomerang Stone Guards built. Theses are available through Mark Jorgensen at Woodhouse. Here are some of the bullet points from the earlier post.

1. It is not if, you WILL loose the paint at the Front/bottom of the sill. Take a look at the picture below of my car after 4000 miles.

2. It takes less than an hour to install both sides. Most of the time is consumed in jacking up the car.

3. They are purposely designed to cover the area where there is high impact, yet, they are small enough so they blend in with the lines of the wheel well.

4. They can easily be removed and then reapplied at a later time.

5. The outside hole in enlarged so that you can customize the position.

6. The install uses one factory screw and one supplied push-pin.

7. The best time to install them is at the dealer on a new car.

Anyone tried painting them? My previous car had clear bra there. Just wondering how they would look body color. Or carbon fiber wrapped?

Thanks for the tip, they look quite helpful.

I have them on mine. Luckily got them on before 100 miles were on the car. Great product.

Id like to see some pics from different angles to see how they look on the car. I would like to have this but don't want anything that resembles something like a mudflap.

Just call or email Mark. If he does not call back in 5 min, he is either in jail or Bill P took his phone away.

Doesn't look bad at all! Since I am going to track my car I better get a set.

Why not clear wrap, less obvious than a piece of black plastic

Jack B

That is how I started, it was sanded off by the road debris.

Are these really big enough to do the job? Has anybody painted them to match the car?

They cover the part of the fender that takes the most abuse for sure, as evidenced by what I covered up when I installed mine. A better pic is of the car on the ground with the wheels on, they basically disappear......

I wonder if all the G5 owners realize how bad the sand blast affect is in that area. I do not drive on gravel roads and mine was so bad after 4000 miles it was due for a repaint. I put on the stone guards to hide the damage, that was far cheaper than a repaint. One of the best things about them is that they disappear into the lines of the car and are close to undetectable

Jack, do you still think it's not worth making something for the front wheel? Even to save some spray onto the rockers?

I'm talking for behind the front wheel, could hang down an inch or two to stop road debris marking up the rockers.

These are for behind the front wheel.

Well shit. Once again I am easily confused.
Okay then never mind! I thought these were for the back wheel..
Haha!
I'll still order a set for my car.

The rocker low point is at the front, I don't think you would gain a lot by dropping the guard down. I went thru multiple designs and ended up where it is now. When I do another batch, I may go up 1 in and down a 1/2 in.and see if it still disappears like the current design.

I clayed that area recently and there was no damage, just surface debris. Without the stone guards there probably would gave been.

i just ordered a set from Mark J. Jack B, are there any plans to make rear ones or is the sandblast effect not as severe? I'm new to Vipers and just bought a new 2015

EDIT: Just found your other thread where it says the rears don't get much damage.
