View Full Version : My buddy can't fit...really?

He's 6'1-6'2 and with his helmet his head rubs the roof. One seems a bit dangerous and just funny that someone not that tall can't fit with a helmet? Many of you said you fit, but with a helmet?
Doesn't effect me but had him take my car out on track and he didn't want to last time cause he said he's head was running so I got a pic to see.

pull the seat 1 click forward from the rear, then recline just a little. i'm 6'2", this gives me about 1/2" to 1" clearance.. lol

This, I do the same thing. use the cavernous footwells on this beast to your advantage!

don't forget to adjust the pedals ;)

6'2" with a 30" inseam?

Haha, I was going to ask the same thing.

I'm 6'4" and 200lbs. I fit with a helmet and don't rub. When I was shopping for the gen5 I tried sitting in the showroom with my helmet on and it touched and had clearance issues. Once I had the car and played with the seat settings and body position, I got comfy and setup so I have no problems now and that's without any mods like a seat lowering kit. If I keep my car, vs going to a TA or ACR, then I will do the seat lowering kit just for even better visibility since it's available, but point of the story is you can fit fine if you get the time to play around with it, assuming you're normally distributed, I'm equally tall all over, and with a bit of a long neck, so there's hope for tall guys.

Yes seat was all the way down! I'm not that slow ;(

Well have to mess with it but to have to really not have your optimal seating position it sounds like.

lowering kit is the only real solution

6'2" with a 30" inseam?

Hahaha, that's me! Well, almost. I have short legs for 6'2, and had no chance of wearing a helmet without the seat lowering kit.

I technically fit in the car without a helmet, but the roof liner is fully in my view without the seat lowering kit, basically giving me a 6" swath between that and the hood. The lowering kit was my only option. I also waited till after the kit cam out to buy mine.

He looks to be sitting close and upright in the photo. The way to adjust for good position relative to the wheel is when seated to put outstretched arm on top of the wheel, and with shoulders still against the seat back his wrist should fall on top of the steering wheel rim. Slide seat base and pedals forward and tilt seat back back to get desired head clearance while maintaining wrist on wheel and you're golden. Interior is definitely snug but it seems to have been doable for just about every size and shape.

I am 5'9X" tall and shorter legs. So I am would be more than average height if I had the proper length of legs. I couldn't fit in my GTS with a helmet on without slouching. Turns out DARBGNIK told me about the seat spacers...took them out and it is much better, but my head still touches the roof when I turn my head with a helmet on. I can see how someone above 6" has a hard time fitting with a helmet unless the seat is way back.

Tell him to quit sitting in the car like he is on a 1970s pickup bench seat, straight up. You have to assume the tilted back position in a Viper, this isn't a Mustang. ;)

Ever notice how some guys (especially those who don't own Vipers) can find ANYTHING to complain about?
