Hi everyone! I’m working with the VOA from New Orleans on the big NVE2 coming up in May! We’re so excited to welcome everyone to our amazing city, and we encourage all the attendees to explore and experience the best we have to offer. I’ll be posting weekly on fun things to do and see in New Orleans, so consider this thread a resource for activities to check out while you’re here. Jackson Square
Jackson Square, a National Historic Landmark, is arguably the most iconic location in New Orleans. Surrounding the square are cornerstones of history, like the Pontalba Apartments named for the Baroness de Pontalba, its designer and developer; the Cabildo where the Spanish once ruled the city; St. Louis Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in North America; the Presbytere; and Pirate’s Alley where William Faulkner once lived and wrote. On any given day, street performers, brass bands, fortune tellers and artists bring the square to life.

Cafe du Monde
Café du Monde (http://www.cafedumonde.com/), the most Instagrammed restaurant in the country in 2015, has been around since 1862 and is a must-visit spot in the French Quarter. Known for their café au lait made with chickory coffee and their delicious beignets, this is a favorite among visitors and locals. Hard to beat French-style fried doughnuts covered with powdered sugar!

Hurricane Katrina Recovery
