As I'm driving various places I need to navigate from time to time. There's no good place to set my so phone in a 98' GTS. I was wondering if any of you know of an ash tray replacement that has a phone mount built in or something that mounts through the lighter. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thx

i like the kind that clip onto the AC vents, in a 98 that would work well IMO

Yep, I like that vent-clip style one too. I think it was discussed on another Viper forum. They're stupid cheap too.

PanaVise makes a mount that bolts on via one of the radio-mount screws.
Part# 751051300
Install guide: http://www.panavise.com/pdf_indash/751051300.pdf

Pair it with a phone holder. I use model 15585. The combo olds the phone solidly & doesn't block the A/C vents.

This is what I have. Works great.

I use a Ram mount that's bolted down using the front passenger seat bolt (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00470U9QO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) along with their phone X grip holder (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7B2NV4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Very solid mount so the phone doesn't move at all, and the post on the mount is bent to go up alongside the transmission tunnel, so the phone ends up being at about the height of the CD player.

This works great in my Gen2 and Gen5 and all my other cars. I have an LG G2 in an otter box which is big and thick. You can add a zip tie to keep them in place on the vent but they hold well either way. I probably tried 10 others some of which were expensive but these work great.

Zip Tie - Brilliant Idea! That's been my biggest beef with the clip on mounts. Problem solved! Thanks!!!

Just ordered the rokform case and car mount(s) for my iphone. I liked that it wasn't bulky and I can decide where to put the car mount nubs. Plus, the same case will fit multiple cars just by using a car mount nub in each car.

Thanks for the heads up Viper Girl and Scott.

I've been using a Rokform case for my iPhone 6+ about a year. I was disappointed in the magnet that you attach to the car because it did not prevent the phone from rotating with lateral G's. I'm WAY to OCD to not let that bother me. I actually combined the magnet with the CD slot holder I referenced above and have been reasonably happy with the result.

I bought one of these as an extra for the Viper. It's supposed to lock it into landscape or portrait.

Will let you know how it works after I get it.

I finally got around to installing the Rockform nub in the Viper. Here are some pictures which aren't of the best quality.

I've been using the magnet mount in my Mazda for several months with my iPhone 6. I've had no issues of any movement while driving. I actually really like it as the magnet just pulls it on and off very easily. No need to align to attach on and off

I don't have a lot of seat time with the nub attachment in the Viper, but it seems to hold it and lock very well. The only thing that's annoying is that you have to fumble around for a couple seconds to align it so it'll twist on and off. Not that it's too much of a PITA, but I'm so used to the magnetic attachment, that this seems like a step back.
