OK, maybe not this week, but someone around this time every year posts up the seasonal reminder of the dramatic relationship between cold roads and cold tires vs. traction, especially on a Viper.

Took my usual Saturday AM drive; one that I must have taken at least 500 times over the course of my 14 years of Viper ownership. Downshifting into one of my favorite right handers about 1/4 mile from my garage (and this is on a raised roadway) and woa ... I was mostly sideways! As best as I could (which was not very) I made it look like I was practicing a scene from Tokyo Drift.

Despite my knowledge of it being 40ish out, "sideways" brings that knowledge front and center.

Let your tires warm up and be careful out there! Don't just think careful ... BE careful!

That Butt tightening moment!!!!

Exactly! Good news is as you age and your reflexes slow, you actually become more accomplished during "butt tightening moments". Rather than an instant harsh correction, which might make things worse, it takes a few seconds for me to become remotely cognizant of my skid, so by the time I correct, it LOOKS smooth. :dude3:

Driving a Viper in general increases your "butt muscle over-steer reflex threshold"
