Anyone thinking of going to New orleans for NVE 2? I'm kicking around the idea of driving down and trailering back. But I need to price this all out. Maybe we can get a deal if more people are thinking the same. I'm not 100% but wanted to see what others are thinking.

There are several us going. We have been talking about doing the same thing, drive down and ship back if there is a good enough deal. If not I will probably drive back and the wife will fly back.

Going. Most likely going to trailer the Viper down/back with the Ram...as well as trailer back the door prize. ;) <- JUST JOKING.

Definitely going - everyone remember to renew with Mamba membership this year to save big on the event cost!

I like the idea of caravaning down and shipping back. I'd recommend signing up as soon as tickets are available tomorrow and we will continue the logistics conversation. After seeing what National and Ed B from Missisippi/Louisiana have planned, it's worth it no matter how you get there!

Registered today!! I'm definitely in on the caravan there. Haven't decided whether I'll be driving back or not.

Super excited; I've never been to New Orleans. Only a short 6 months away.

It's going to be fun, fun, fun! I will be trailering , mama doesn't like riding in the noisy car that long.
I may be brining back the new Viper on my trailer. I have to be prepared. I booked hotel 11th - 15th.

Confirmed tickets for me and Courtney... will need to figure out how we're getting there.... Still a possibility that we'll tow my Viper with a Hellcat Jeep :-)

Hey Folks - if you're thinking about putting your car in a transporter truck for one-way or both-ways please weigh in via email or post up here.

Big thanks to Adrian for looking into the prices with top Viper carriers! Let's get him a solid survey of how many Vipers and where they're coming from to work on the prices.

Thanks!

If any of you guys are interested, the Ohio club is putting together a convoy down and back. We are driving down and spending the night in Huntsville, AL. Then on the way back we are stopping in Knoxville, TN for an extra day to do a tour through the Smoky Mountains including the Tail of the Dragon.

Stretch, I might be interested in following on the way back. This is going to be the cross country road trip that I never had the chance to take.

Cool! We are working on the hotel room blocks at the 2 stops right now. As soon as we have that finalized we will get the details posted to the forums here so people can work on their travel plans.

That might work out perfectly .. what time do you expect to hit Huntsville? There's a place in Decatur that I'm dying to hit for dinner :-)

One way or the other we should coordinate where our paths meet up... I think we will collect NE, NY/CT, NJ, PA/WV along rt 81

Here is the tentative plan.

Monday 5/9 - Leave Columbus, OH about 8 am. Drive all the way to Huntsville, AL. It's about 8-9 hours of drive time alone, so we will get there late in the evening I think.
Tuesday 5/10 - Drive from Huntsville, AL to New Orleans.

Sunday 5/15 - Drive from New Orleans to Knoxville, TN.
Monday 5/16 - Scenic tour through the Smoky Mountains.
Tuesday 5/17 - Drive home.

I look at that $5,000 as that's half of what the Arrow H/C package is for the GenV, from VE. ;)

Tentative Plan Taking shape:

by the end of the first day (Sunday) we get to Harrisonburg VA area- that's 571 miles for the New England Group - 350 miles from NYC. We can collect NY/CT, NE, NJ, PA, WV all there the first night.

by the end of the second day - (Monday) we get to Huntsville AL - that's 567 miles. My goal would be to get there by 630pm so that we can have dinner in Decatur Alabama at an UNREAL BBQ place. That night we meet up with the Ohio region and probably other midwest regions too.

then third day (Tuesday) Huntsville to NoLA is 442 miles.

yeah.. Google Maps says 1360 miles from Wappingers Falls and 20hours 19minutes. I'm expecting 18.5 hours from NYC. A lot of the middle of the trip is in VA where you can't go too nuts, including one where you can't run a radar detector (WTF)

taking 3 days to do it I'm thinking 5 hours day 1. 8 hours day 2. 5.5 hours day 3.
If you want to do a marathon you could get from NY to Huntsville Alabama in one day and caravan with the group from there to NoLa

So is the plan to arrive at the Hyatt for check in on Tuesday evening? I booked my reservations arriving on Wednesday, May 11th.

If so, do we still get the special parking for Tuesday night?

This is going to be a great, long vacation. Hopefully, my company doesn't send a search party for me.

Yeah - if you're driving both ways you probably don't want to make it a 3 day journey. We get a larger group collected by making it 3, and nobody needs to do much more than 8 hours in the car in one day. Sleepy Viper Driving is no fun if you can avoid it

good Q - pretty sure the parking situation is setup for the whole week, but I'll double-check that

The parking package through the VOA only covers Wed-Sun. Tuesday night parking is an extra cost at the regular rate for that garage they have across the street. I was asking about it last week in the NVE2 section of the forums because I missed the parking package when I registered.

If parking and hotel are covered from Wednesday to Sunday and the first event is Wednesday night (not sure what time?), we could leave on Monday and arrive in NOLA on Wednesday. Just leave a short leg for Wednesday.
