A friend of my nephew took this pick and was led to believe that a new model (ACR-X?) was being tested today by Randy Pobst. All I was told; over to you ...

Looks like an ACR extreme to me. Going for a faster Viper track time I'm sure.

Looks like today was an F3 driving school event with a "drive your own" session in the morning, 8-9:30.

Laguna Seca. Not Sonoma.

Def Laguna. He's supposed to be there this Sunday. I'm sure they are there for a few day's going for the gold. Sunday weather is looking iffy. Hopefully the rain doesn't start.

I checked the Laguna Seca calendar, and it look's like they completed their testing already. They were there yesterday and today( 27,28). A 2 day private track rental. I wonder what lap times Randy ran?

I suspect we'll have a new production car record, if he got enough seat time and the weather was good.

The two private rental days were 90DB rated. There may have been some testing done for the upcoming unlimited sound days. Today is an unlimited sound day with TRG-Aston Martin Racing group. They'll probably be going for it today and Sunday.

So this is motor trend going for the production car lap record in the ACR?

Does anyone have any information confirming that they were even working on a new ACR-X?

Dodge wouldn't have Pobst driving an ACRX prerelease , I also think it's too soon the ACR didn't gain any press yet

There were rumors of Randy and Winkler running the ACR at Laguna Seca, this is probably just proof.

Thanks guys. I've been wondering when we will finally see some track data from anyone on the ACR. Seems like it has been all quite since the initial unveil outside of the grassroots utcc which was somewhat limited.

I like what I see. Randy getting lots of seat time on multiple days at Laguna Seca. The way you go for the fastest lap, especially on a car with such massive adjustability like the ACR, is practice, tune, practice, tune. Just be aware of how hard it will be to break the Porsche 918's 1:29.89 record. That is ridiculously fast with a bone stock car. Then again, he did a 1:30.5 in a stock TA with just slicks, so maybe...

Agree and it's great he has been driving more and more Vipers lately. I bet the car rips at Laguna :D

A TA like a ACR with slicks would not be bone stock. If the ACR gets within .5 to 1 second of the 918s time would be a major triumph for the ACR as you can buy approximately 10 ACRs for the cost of 1 918,lol I also dont think your going to see many 918 owners tracking their cars.

I guess the question becomes does the downforce of the ACR paired with the Kumhos > the downforce of the TA with the slicks. Add the better suspension and carbon matrix brakes on the ACR I really hope we see an NA ACR dominate the 918.

Back to bench racing and waiting for results :)

That would really piss off the internet which is exactly what I want from an ACR.

Anybody know if they were able to get any good runs at Laguna Seca and are there any reported times for the Gen 5 ACR??

I am sure he went under 1.30. My 1st session in the car with passenger I went 1.35. The last session of the day still with a passenger I ran 3 laps at 1.33! This car has so much freaking grip. Just like Andy Lally said, you turn in and fucking nail it is completely right. You can literally turn in and full throttle this thing through the turn. I could make the turn and the top of the turn on the corkscrew and in 2nd gear go full throttle all the way down the corkscrew. It took a while to get used to giving the car so much gas through the turns. I've driven cars you could do this on, they were cars with 200hp not 650. People are going to lose their shit when the ACR beats the 918.

Darius, that is absolutely insanely fast, with a passenger no less. Are you going to write the day up? Mike and Lee told me a few of the juicy details. I'm just blown away by those times.

I agree....I think that the ACR Extreme is going to beat the 918. I wish they'd put Kuno, Goosens, Archer, et al in the car. Randy is an awesome driver, but Vipers aren't what he drives every day. His forte is Porsche. So put Randy in a 918 and one of the Viper guys in the ACR and let the games begin. After it beats the 918, I was hoping that would spur Viper sales and FCA could be convinced to keep production rolling.

Great job Darius!

Sucks to be a Porsche 918 owner right now. Can you imagine how much further ahead the ACR would be if both cars attempted 10 laps non stop?

Awesome times (so far) Darius!

Not sure it ever "sucks to be a 918 owner" or that the ACR will beat the 918, P1 or La Ferrari--especially on a long track for 1 lap or so. Those electric motors give them a lot of low-end instant torque-fill, plus the active downforce.

In any event, I am glad SRT gave us the ACR!

Darius, what you are saying is the ACR needs more power. 👍

Typically with Vipers I've always had to be tactful with the throttle even in my Gen2 Race car with huge downforce. I cant imagine driving a tq monster like the Viper and going WOT in a turn in 2nd gear. Seriously bad aspness

Yup! Even my TA with Hoosiers I had to roll on the power on exit, not this car. Full throttle right after turn in.

Too early to say if it will beat the hypercars time at Laguna. Buuut if it does then an ACR with H/C package/tractive suspension will positively eat their lunch at most tracks without many long straightaways. Very interesting next few weeks until the results are in. Goosebumps....

Agree, that will be the ultimate setup on an ACR. I might have to build one ;)
