Hi all,

I'm trying to install the harness this weekend but no instructions came with it. This harness kit is specifically designed for the Gen V, but I believe it's mostly the same as Gen III/IV. If anyone's done this, I would greatly appreciate your help. I figured out how to install the shoulder belts, so that's done. I used the shorter eye bolts and lock washers.

I've got the submarine belts through the slots in seat bottom, but am not sure about how to secure them. The kit comes with a submarine bar that mounts across the two rear seat mounting studs. I would think that the "V" of the bar points towards the front of the car. I'm assuming I mount the submarine belts to it, as you would a shoulder belt to a roll bar, is this correct? So I would remove the attachment brackets/clips that came on the ends of the submarine belts, and wrap the belts around the bar. Does this all sound correct to you?

As for the lap belts, I know they mount to the transmission tunnel and the interior rocker by the side pipe. I'm assuming the two long eye bolts and lock washers are used for these? Do these install in the same fashion as a Gen III Viper? Do I need to remove the seat to install them? I saw a write-up on how someone found the two mounting points and cut the carpet to install the bolts. This one I'm the most confused about.

This is my Sunday project to install them, hoping to get it done so I'm ready for Buttonwillow Raceway next weekend. Any help you can give me today would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Todd

Thanks Lee, that's a big help. I'll show you the install in case you want to do it to your brand spanking new V. I'm running a Necksgen too, it's a HANS-type device.

Jon B of Parts Rack also gave me a call on his day off, very cool. He had some pointers too, but it turns out that the Gen V is different and he hasn't done one.

The submarine straps mount to a bar instead of an eye bolt. I'll do my best to figure it out, if anyone has done an actual Gen V please let me know. I know Mark Jorgensen has, but he's probably out racing today :bth_smiley_formula1

Thanks

Todd

Hey Todd, good luck, don't know about the sub bar, or working on a G5, but I posted that how to and happy to help if you need it. Wish I could go to BW, hope to catch up at the track in '14. Mike

Sorry I missed this Todd, hope you figured it all out and if you need to get the bar LMK. It is the same process as the Gen3/4 except for this, no need to remove the seats. We always use the snap in hardware for our installs so they can be stored when not at the track. The manual seats slide kind of hard and belts are tight around the sides. The power seat are easy if you raise them a little to move back and forth.

Thanks guys, I got 5 out of 6 figured out then had to brake for a party. Tonight I'll finish the install.

I just have a couple questions:

I installed the short eye bolts for the shoulder belts, and long eye bolts for the lap. Is this correct?

Mark, any tips on installing the lap
belt on the transmission tunnel side? I found it easy to pull the carpet back for the other lap belt, can I do he same on the tunnel?
