Mark your calendars folks. RUN FOR THE BOARDER par 2 is in planning stage for October 3rd. As we did last year, we will start in Ohio, work our way along Lake Erie to Pennsylvania and end in New York state for dinner. I am in the process of setting all the stops up but plan for a 9am start at Ferrante's in Geneva Ohio.

More details to come.

For the most part it is their own option. We are going to all finish up the day for dinner at 6pm (ish) in Westfield, NY (20 mins over the PA/NY boarder). I am hoping to finalize everything this weekend.

We are in the wife has the day off and I never need a reason to drive the car. Shawn just wanted to say THANKS for setting this up. Last year we had a great time meeting fellow Vipers and owners. We will see everyone on the 3rd.

Thanks John.

We are up to 9 cars for the day. I did some "Mythbusters" style testing this past weekend. I discovered that when you spray a little water on a Viper it does not melt. Therefore, this will be a "Rain or Shine" event.

Saturday Oct 3rd :RUN FOR THE BORDER, Pt 2 and October 4th? But wait... there's more!

I want to thank a some people for coordinating a few things on the schedule. First, thanks to Bob Bierman for noticing that the first stop at Debonne Winery does't open up till 12 noon. So we will flip the first two stops and have lunch there as opposed to Ferrante. I also wanted to push out the first meeting time to accommodate those traveling from Columbus and Pittsburgh. As long as you arrive by 12noon to meet up with the group at the second stop, you will be OK.

The new schedule looks like this:
Stop 1: 10am meet up... GENEVA, OHIO Ferrante Winery http://ferrantewinery.com/
Stop 2: 12noon MADISON, OHIO Debonne' Vineyards LUNCH https://debonne.com/
Stop 3: 1:45p ERIE, PA The Brewerie http://www.brewerie.com/
Stop 4: 2:30p ERIE, PA The Bourbon Barrel http://www.bourbonbarrelerie.com/
Stop 5 3pm (GROUP CAR PICTURE) Bayfront area
Stop 6 4:30p PORTLAND, NY 21Brix http://www.21brix.com/
Stop 7 6:30p WESTFIELD, NY Zebro's Beach Bar http://www.zebrosbeachbar.com/

We can take our time at lunch and all the stops in the afternoon are "ISH"...3p "ish"...6:30p "ish"
Also, the owners at "The Brewerie" are unable to give us the basement tour due to them being at an offsite event. Sorry folks! We can get a history background about some of the unique features of this old train station.

Secondly, thank you to Rich & Jen Kautz for setting up hotel accommodations for anyone wishing to stay the night in Erie and not have to make the trip back home Saturday night. There is a block of 10 rooms available at the Baymont Inn & Suites across from the Erie Downs Casino. The cost is $109/night +taxes and is under the group name of "Viper Owners Association".

Address and Contact info:
Baymont Inn & Suites
8170 Perry Highway
Erie, PA 16509
Phone: 814-866-8808

Lastly, anyone that wants to continue the journey into New York state and visit wineries up that direction on Sunday, Ohio Member Gavin Lim has put together a route for the day. Gavin will be staying at "The White Inn" in Fredonia, NY. Website www.whiteinn.com. There is no block of rooms set here but feel free to stay here if you wish as well. The start time is at 11am and will fill the afternoon. I have attached a .pdf document which outlines the stops. Erie to Fredonia is a little over 1 hr to make the trip if you decide to stay the night in Erie.

That being said, the 10 day weather forecast for next weeks is calling for a 50% chance of showers. So I will call it a 50% chance there will be NO showers! This will be a "rain or shine" event. I will have printed route cars for everyone Saturday morning and if you have a FRS radio, bring it for the day.

See everyone next weekend at 10am "ish". We have a total of 9 cars lined up for the event so far!

PM ME IF YOU WANT TO JOIN

VOA Peeps-

Slight correction to the overnight accommodations. It looks like anyone who wants to stay overnight the plan is to utilize The White Inn for the overnight stay. According to my sources there are 5 rooms left at the Inn. If anyone still wants to stay the night in Erie, let me know and I can help set something up at one of the hotels. As a FYI, Westfield to Erie is less then a 30 Min trip on the highway, if even that. Erie is 1hr 45min away from Pittsburgh and Cleveland. and 1hr 20mins from Buffalo. (give or take depending if you decide to obey the speed limit)

The idea of staying at the hotel in Erie has now move to the Inn at Westfield, NY.

Any questions or concerns, please let me know.

I had to make a few changes to the schedule since a few of the wineries reverted to their "Winter" hours starting on Oct 1st. I also changed the lunch spot since the original spot had a party of 65 coming in for lunch and quite frankly, we don't want to have to wait around to be served. We have a 12 noon reservation at Grand River Cellars (which is a sister winery of Debonne Winery). I also set up for a behind the scenes tour of Mazza Winery in Northeast PA at 4:30p and a 7p reservation at Zebro's Beach Bar.

FINAL ROUTE

10a to 11:30a: Ferrante Winery, Geneva, OHIO
12 Noon to 1p: Grand River Cellars, Madison, OHIO (LUNCH)
1:30p to 2:15p: Debonne Vineyards, Madison, OHIO
3:00p to 3:45p: The Brewerie ERIE, PA
4:30p to 5:30p: Mazza Winery Northeast, PA (TOUR)
5:45p to 6:30p: 5 & 20 Distillery, Westfield, NY
7:00p to ? :Zebro's Beach Bar, Barcelona, NY (DINNER)

I will have the route cards with me with all of the addresses and directions when we meet up Saturday at Ferrante Winery. Remember to bring a FRS radio. We are at 9 Vipers for the day.

Sounds like a few of you are planning a overnight at The White Inn located in Fredonia, NY. If you need to book a room the number is 716-672-2103.

See everyone Saturday!
