Quick question. I have a Gen 2 rt/10 with the stock 3.07. Would I be better with a 3.35 or 3.55. Thanks.

If you gonna not have any power adders(turbos, blower)than go with the 3.55s

I agree with the 3:55 gears. I put them on 20,000 miles ago and it makes the car better on the highway and super on the road courses. I can run 65 mph at 1500 rpm in 6th gear. I hardly ever used 6th gear before I changed the gears unless I was in a 70 to 75 mph zone.

Depends on your wheels size too. If your going to go with a larger diameter wheel/tire combo, then, I would say go with 355's for sure. If your going to stick with the 17's . then even the 335's would show some good grunt. Overall though, I would go with the 355's , again, assuming that your not adding any power adders as stated earlier. If so, stay with the 307's

Take the 3.33's or the 3.35's out of the mix. There are no manufacturers making a dedicated Viper ratio like that. They are for other apps and will NOT standup long term in a viper.

Don't know if I can agree with this. Had mine in over 10,000 miles and several track days. Unitrax setup. Changing gear oil pretty regular. Not seen anything to indicate a problem. You know something lots of us don't?

3:33s are GONE. Unitrax/PartsRack had some made in Italy. Now gone, sold out, with no plans to re-build.

Short answer: 3:55 Bet Overall Choice. (same as 2013-15 Gen 5!)

Here is an article "Got Gears"? on Ring/Pinion/Diff upgrades that was published a while back in an owners mag:

Devon at Unitrax made 3.33's for several years with pretty good success, that is not the issue. Those have been discontinued for a couple years. What is out there now are Dana 44 3.33's or 3.31's depending on the advertiser text. (Corvette and some Jeeps)

We have the Dana 44 HD in the Viper. The "neck" of our pinion gear is much larger in diameter than the non HD differential. (I don't have specs by me right now but I can get them). The suppliers of the current 3.33's include a spacer to take up the slack in the difference in the pinion gear diameter. Traditonally the gear sets fail when the drive shaft yoke twists off the end of the pinion gear. They made our pinion gears bigger for a reason:D:D:D

3.55's. Definitely will make the drive more lively. I am considering a similar change soon. I am considering the 3.73 as well, but 3.55 is the minimum change I'd consider.

Looking at it pragmatically... the trans in our cars have two overdrive gears. Frankly, as mentioned above, below 75 6th gear is useless. If you look at it, even 3.73's only really bump you up about 300 RPM at highway speeds. In city driving I find the car is a pain at 45 MPH... You're between gears. The taller gear takes care of that issue.

Steve, good to know. I've got 3.55's but I know some folks have considered 3.33's. Thanks!

I have 3.55's in my GTS and it made quite a difference. One, it actually made 6th gear useful.

Why are 4.10s never discussed? I've got some background in GM F and B bodies, and the debate there is always 3.73s VS 4.10s in the T56 cars(even non-drag oriented daily drivers). Why aren't they popular with the Viper crowd?

4:10 / 4:11 gears are just too much wheelspin.
Totally unmanagable, even Gen 1 400HP.
Adding power too quickly exiting a corner = SPINNNNN.

Makes the tranny run too hot......
makes the diff run too hot..........
shifting so often you get Tennis Elbow (T56 Elbow?)

The 3.55 gears are more fun to drive with. Feels like I added 50 hp.
