Hey guys.. Ok.. Wondering if any of you out there w Gen 5 (or in particular 2.0) have lowered your car? Staring at my Tomball caps but just not sure if should do this considering how low front planes are and nervous that even a small bump in road will cause scraping.. Yeah prob should have looked at car bf purchased caps :(.. Just wanted to get a general consensus from all of you savvy Viperaholics! .. may consider just selling to anyone interested for cost and would include shipping (brand new in sealed box)! :)
If you decide to sell, shoot me a PM.

I have the advanced aero on my 2015 as well as the lowering caps. The first speed bump I went over, I held my breath and nothing happened. I actually have not scraped on anything yet but I would be very selective on how you approach inclined driveways. On a separate note, they make the car look great. I just need to add some spacers and I will be good until I decide to get some aftermarket rims.

If you will do road trips and are not sure what the road condition will be, I will suggest just keep the stock on. I have the stock ones and for several times still get them scratched.

Yes .. nervous for sure. Have only about 3" stock clearance from stock front facia plane. Can't imagine lowering another 5/8" scraped slightly already x1 pulling out of my driveway. Just love the look of lower profile though "/

Lowered mine and have aero. It's no problem. I love the stance with the lowering caps!!! I still angle inclines as a precaution.

If you stay local and don't take long trips, obviously you can know/plan your route and likely not ever scrape.
I've had this same discussion with myself. As awesome as it looks there have been a couple times I'm sure I wouldn't have made it with the car lowered. Fortunately I've only barely brushed something once without major injury.

i wonder though how much space that will give me minus that lower dive plane on 2.0 .. maybe 2.5"? How much do you think have on GTS front plane after lowered? I think Mark at Woodhouse said around 5/8ths lower?

Haha...the good thing is that the plastic planes are really durable and several scratch won't affect it at all! And if you still keep the small air dams before the front wheels on your car, you can also use them as a reference before you drive onto a slope or a bump because I think they are more likely to touch the ground and they are far cheaper. :-)

I sold my lowering caps to a member, but added spacers.

theres a 2.0 guy! So was it that concerned about clearance w caps? Do you know exactly how much that will lower front.. I can swear only have about 3" now from ground to plastic plane (not carbon)

I never even installed them. I would've never (properly) been able to get in or out of either entrance/exit of my favorite Chevron...lol. I had purchased them before I took possession of my car.

This. My car is stock, but the air dams have scraped sometimes, even coming out of my driveway. The good new is, they protect the fascia. On our PA roads, I wouldn't lower this car at all. I live a mile from the West Chester University campus, where there are speed humps at some pedestrian crossings. I have to eeaase over them very carefully. Cars behind me hate me.....

A couple of things:
1. I've purchased several items from Jon B, and will continue to do so. However, yes, he only sells the hub centric ones, not a hub/wheel centric version.
2. I've been running hub centric (not hub/wheel centric spacers), for about 1 1/2 years on my Subaru wrx, with zero issues. However, the Viper obviously has a lot more torque.
I had mine custom made from http://www.motorsport-tech.com/. They custom made me all 4 spacers for $180. Specs - (10mm / 71.5 to 71.5 / slip on type spacers)

Yeah I couldn't imagine going over a speedbump lowering another 5/8th. I literally have 3" from plastic dive to floor. I just love the low pro look though. Gosh such a tough call man.

Listen to this guy...he knows exactly what's going to happen if he lowers it more ;) TA rides lower than other models that can get away with a bit of a drop. I know my TA scuffs in all kinds of places in normal driving so I couldn't even consider it.

There is a possible height variance of 1" total on the GenV because the tolerance spec is +- 1/2" up or down so I would check the look before ordering any caps, if your car is already low it can get awfully drastic.
ddominator1
08-18-2015, 09:17 AM
yeah Mark.. def think mine might have that variance.. only have like 3" max and seems like settled a bit more some 350 miles into break in.. if it wasn't for that xtra dive plane on 2.0 would consider Staring at your box right now (lol) but just cant bring myself to opening it... :(
