Stock shifter is very good. Shifter knob: MGW - That's the ticket.

Any hints or instructions on changing out the shift knob? I just received mine this week and haven't put it in yet.

My suggestion is popping the one near the e-brake, then the one near the cig lighter, then you can pull and pop the hole piece up.

Ordered this trim kit to do it

I like the stock knob(a little high), but I'm ready for something a little shorter. Have you ever pinched your hand with the lower MGW shifter. Looks like it could be almost to low? Was thinking about cutting down the stocker..?

I have Laguna Leather in my GTS and the shifter ball was great. That said, I now have the MGW shifter pictured above (except with the Viper logo) and it is a substantial improvement. No need to make any adjustments; the height of the shifter handle (cylindrical) is part of the improvement. Of course, each to his or her own!

If you put your hand too far in it can feel a little cramped, yes. You get used to where to grab it though. I love that shifter.

Thanks!!! I was actually able to get the stock shift knob off by just sliding the boot down.

Another question for you guys..... What did you do with the jamb nut, leave it or take it off completely? Also, do the treads on the shifter get damaged from tightening that screw down?

I set the position of the new shift knob and then secured it using the OEM jam nut.

I tried that but the knob still turned. I guess I need to tighten it down more???

I would. Hold back up on the shift knob itself then tighten the jam nut securely. The shift knob shouldn't move once you get the jam nut securely fastened.

I left the OEM jam nut on, tightened both onto each other and finally tightened down the allen set screw that is on the MGW style knob. Rock solid install.... FYI, I didn't have to remove the trim piece or mess with any of that during my install. Entire swap out took like 5 mins. Pushed the shifter boot down, undid the stock knob, bolted on new one and lifted the shift boot back up.

When I test drove a 14 GTS, I thought one of the best things about it was the shifting.

One of my favorite mods so far. Its a cheap really changes the feel for the better. Shorter throws and the handle feels great. Highly recommended !

Isn't the shorter throw higher effort?

I'm using the stick to the left of the oem, which is fairly short. I even have a 1/2"-5/8" spacer (I forget which) that you see just below the knob. It's actually a brass piece I found at Lowe's that I had powder coated in y'orange. Also, I'm using a different shift knob than the one you see in the pic.

You can also use a crows foot wrench and leave the rubber boot in place.
